MEP Project Manager
Job Description
The MEP Project Manager serves as the primary lead for delivering critical Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems. In this role, you manage the entire project path from procurement to final commissioning. Furthermore, you ensure that heavy infrastructure remains on schedule and meets the highest quality standards. You act as the central pivot between design consultants, utility providers, and specialized sub-contractors to protect the project’s massive capital expenditure.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Lifecycle Management: Lead the M&E execution strategy. Specifically, you must track budgets, manage schedules, and mitigate risks for multi-million dollar MEP packages.
- Supervise Service Coordination: Oversee the BIM/Revit process. Consequently, you ensure that power trays, chilled water pipes, and fire systems integrate without spatial conflicts.
- Manage Critical Equipment: Direct the end-to-end procurement of Long-Lead Equipment (LLE). This includes managing assets like chillers, UPS clusters, and generators.
- Guide Sub-contractors: Lead Tier-1 M&E contractors. In doing so, you ensure their method statements meet rigorous hyperscale safety and technical standards.
- Liaise with Authorities: Coordinate with local power and water authorities (e.g., TNB, Meralco, PLN). As a result, you ensure the facility energizes and connects according to the master schedule.
- Facilitate Commissioning: Partner with the Commissioning (Cx) Manager. Together, you prepare all systems for Level 1–5 testing to achieve “Ready for Service” status.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years in project management, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to Data Centers, Semiconductors, or Pharmaceutical facilities.
- Deep knowledge of power redundancy (N+1/2N), cooling plant architectures, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Expert proficiency in Project Management software (Procore, Aconex, or Primavera P6) and BIM viewing tools.
- Strong experience in contract management (FIDIC/SIA), variations, and cost-control for large-scale engineering works.
- Proven ability to manage large on-site teams and hold vendors accountable to strict “speed-to-market” KPIs.
