Senior Manager / Director – Customer Contracts
Job Description
We are hiring a Customer Contracts Director for a leading international data centre developer and operator in Dubai. In this role, you will negotiate complex agreements with hyperscale, cloud and enterprise customers.
You will also act as the key commercial link between the business and its customers. As a result, contracts protect the company and support long-term partnerships. However, this is a customer-facing role, not a construction contracts position.
Responsibilities
- Lead the negotiation, drafting and redlining of data centre and colocation contracts
- Negotiate directly with hyperscale, cloud, technology and enterprise customers
- Review customer templates and, as a result, flag commercial, operational and legal risks
- Also negotiate liability, indemnities, termination rights, service credits and liability caps
- Agree SLAs covering power, uptime, temperature and humidity
- Work with technical, operations, finance and legal teams to assess customer requirements
- Support negotiations for facilities that are still under design or construction
- Recommend risk positions and, if needed, go/no-go decisions to senior management
- Balance business protection with strong customer relationships
- Finally, improve contract templates, negotiation frameworks and approval processes
Qualification and skills
- 10+ years in contracts, commercial or legal roles (slightly less for strong Senior Managers)
- Proven negotiation of complex data centre or digital infrastructure contracts
- Solid grasp of commercial risk, SLAs and liability provisions
- Direct dealings with multinational customers, ideally hyperscalers
- Preferably a background at a data centre operator, colocation provider or hyperscaler
- Degree in Engineering, Law, Commercial Management or similar
- Confidence when leading talks with senior customer representatives
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Willingness to relocate to Dubai, UAE
- In addition, Mandarin or Chinese language skills are an advantage
- Also advantageous: experience in APAC, Europe or Middle East data centre markets
