Senior Manager / Director – Construction Contracts
Job Description
We are hiring a Construction Contracts Director for a leading international data centre developer and operator in Dubai. In this role, you will negotiate and manage contracts between the developer and its main contractors across major data centre developments.
You will also work closely with procurement, project delivery, engineering, legal and senior leadership teams. As a result, construction contracts stay commercially robust and well managed, from pre-construction through to delivery.
This is a developer-side, contractor-facing role. It is not a PMC or project management consultancy position.
Responsibilities
- Lead the review, negotiation and finalisation of contracts with main contractors and key construction partners
- Review contractual terms after contractor selection and before mobilisation
- Advise senior leadership on contractual and commercial risks before contracts are executed
- Negotiate key commercial terms, including payment structures, milestones, claims and certification mechanisms
- Review and negotiate lump-sum and other construction contract structures
- Manage provisions on extensions of time (EOT), delays, variations, claims, damages and contractor entitlements
- Set clear contractual positions on what contractors can and cannot claim during project delivery
- Support the resolution of contractual disputes and commercial issues
- Review contractual notices, claims, certifications and supporting documentation
- Align contractual requirements with project delivery objectives alongside procurement and project teams
- Support contract administration through construction and give commercial guidance to project leadership
- Maintain strong contractor relationships while protecting the developer’s commercial interests
Qualification and skills
- Significant experience in construction contracts, commercial management, contract management or construction law
- Strong experience negotiating major construction contracts, ideally in data centres, mission-critical facilities or complex infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of payments, claims, variations, EOT, delay provisions and dispute management
- Experience managing contracts from pre-construction and award through to project delivery
- Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Law, Construction Management or a related discipline
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to communicate contractual risk to senior stakeholders
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management and communication skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Willingness to relocate to Dubai, UAE
- Advantageous: international project experience across the Middle East, APAC, Europe or other major construction markets
- Ideal background: data centre developers and operators, main contractors and specialist mission-critical construction businesses
