Associate Director Design
Job Description
Lead the architectural and engineering strategy for hyperscale data centers in the Mumbai region. Take full ownership of the design lifecycle from concept to construction issuance. Ensures that every facility is highly efficient, scalable, and ready for high-density AI workloads. Bridge the gap between global design standards and local Indian engineering practices to deliver world-class digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the development of master plans and detailed engineering designs for the Mumbai portfolio.
- Create high-level technical specifications for civil, structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems.
- Supervise external architectural and engineering firms to ensure they meet strict global design guidelines.
- Drive the 3D modeling process (Revit/Navisworks) to resolve spatial conflicts before construction begins.
- Lead the design of advanced cooling architectures and high-voltage power distribution systems.
- Coordinate with local Mumbai authorities to ensure designs meet fire safety, environmental, and building codes.
- Implement green building strategies to achieve LEED or IGBC certifications and reduce carbon footprints.
- Evaluate contractor designs and equipment choices to ensure they align with the project’s quality standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams for large-scale industrial or mission-critical projects.
- Deep knowledge of data center power redundancy (N+1/2N) and high-density thermal management.
- Strong understanding of Mumbai’s local building regulations and Indian Standard (IS) codes.
- Mastery of design software including AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination tools.
- xceptional ability to manage complex stakeholder groups and present technical solutions to executive leadership.
- Strong track record of resolving complex engineering challenges during the design and pre-construction phases.
- Ability to work in Mumbai or relocate as required for the role.
