Project Manager

Job Description

To lead the planning and execution of data center construction and fit-out projects across our Japan portfolio. In this role, you will act as the single point of accountability for project delivery — coordinating design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to spec. You’ll manage project schedules, budgets, and risk across multiple concurrent workstreams, working closely with local authorities, utility providers, and client teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end project delivery for data center builds, from design development through handover, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource forecasts across civil, MEP, and fit-out workstreams
  • Manage relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, equipment vendors, and design consultants
  • Track project budgets, review cost variations, and manage change control processes
  • Coordinate with local authorities and utility providers on permits, approvals, and power/water connections
  • Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, escalating issues to stakeholders as needed
  • Chair regular project meetings and produce progress reports for internal leadership and clients
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and company quality standards
  • Support handover to operations teams, ensuring documentation and close-out processes are complete

Qualification and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering large-scale data center, mission-critical, or complex MEP construction projects in Japan
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, MEP systems, and data center design standards
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and third-party contractors
  • Familiarity with Japanese construction regulations, permitting processes, and industry practices
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6)
  • Business-level Japanese and English proficiency preferred
